How does this help me achieve my goal?

Studies show: People who pay AND share publicly are 3× more likely to follow through. You create real accountability through financial commitment and social responsibility – a scientifically proven combination for success.

Do I need an account?

No. Just set your goal, pay, done. You immediately get a link to your goal. No registration, no login, no passwords – just get started.

How much does it cost?

You choose between €5, €20, €50, or €100. Pick the amount that means enough to you to stay committed. The higher the stake, the stronger your motivation.

Is my goal really public?

Only if you want it to be. You get a private link that you can share with friends. Nobody can find your goal without this link. You decide who sees it.

Failure is part of success. Many successful people need multiple attempts. What matters: You tried and learned. Just create a new goal and try again.

What is a commitment device?

A commitment device is a voluntary, binding decision you make today to constrain your future self. Behavioral economists like Thomas Schelling and Richard Thaler have shown that people achieve far more when they lock in both a financial stake and public visibility ahead of time. PublicCommit is a digital commitment device.

Can I use this for business or professional goals?

Absolutely. PublicCommit works for any goal where accountability matters: closing a sales target, shipping a project, building a habit, or sticking to a diet. Many users set professional commitments alongside personal ones.

How does the payment work? Do I get my money back?

You pay once when you create your goal. The payment is a commitment fee – not a deposit. This is intentional: the financial loss aversion is what makes the method work. If you achieve your goal, you simply celebrate. If not, you have paid for a powerful lesson and can start a new challenge.
